"Wally"

There's a park along the Hudson River, up near Cold Spring, with the wonderful name "Poets' Walk". A windy November day and a dog named Wally complete the picture. The whole feeling of this image was poetic to me. I realized as I was painting, that the barren field was most of the painting. It was a challenge to paint "a big bunch of nothing". I'd describe details, then blur them out. Back and forth, til I got just the right balance. Of course everyone loves the dog, but the field was the hard part!
