"November in Lambertville"

Sometimes you're just walking along somewhere, not thinking about painting at all, and WHAM, something you see just jumps out and smacks you in the face. The red glow of this vine on this particular grey day was no less inspirational than a stained glass window in a cathedral to me. The contrast with the colors of the sycamore tree made the whole scene even more compelling. I knew I'd have to paint this the moment I saw it. The only thing that mystified me was why wasn't there a crowd of people standing there as stupefied as I was?
